Karachi, Pakistan; 12 February 2026 — Mashreq has rolled out a first-of-its-kind digital cross-border service allowing UAE-based Pakistani nationals to open accounts with Mashreq Pakistan entirely remotely through the Mashreq UAE mobile app. The service provides a single, unified view of accounts and replaces the traditional manual account-opening process with a fully digital experience.
The facility is available to Pakistani nationals who hold an account with Mashreq UAE and eliminates the need for physical documents or branch visits in Pakistan. Account activation and management are handled end-to-end via the mobile app, giving customers enhanced visibility and control over cross-border finances through a global dashboard.
Transfers to Pakistan can be sent instantly and free of charge using Quick Remit, a remittance feature exclusive to Mashreq account holders. Fernando Morillo, Group Head of Retail Banking at Mashreq, said: “We are delighted to introduce this pioneering digital service, which marks a significant milestone for Mashreq and our customers. Our zero-fee Quick Remit service further enhances the experience, empowering customers with greater convenience, speed, and value.”
Pakistani customers who open an account with Mashreq Pakistan will receive a current account with zero minimum balance and a complimentary domestic PayPak debit card. Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, CEO of Mashreq Pakistan, said: “By enabling seamless and secure cross-border account opening, we are breaking down traditional banking barriers and delivering meaningful impact to our customers.”
The launch underscores Mashreq’s continued investment in digital innovation to simplify cross-border banking for expatriate communities and strengthen financial links between the UAE and Pakistan. By offering fully remote account opening and instant, fee-free transfers, Mashreq Pakistan aims to make it easier for overseas Pakistanis to manage remittances and local banking needs from abroad.
