Saeed Manan unveils Matni sports plan to engage youth through cricket and phased sporting programs in Pishtakhra and Tehsil Matni.

Assistant Commissioner Saeed Manan has unveiled a comprehensive plan to turn Tehsil Matni, with a focus on Pishtakhra and surrounding areas, into a vibrant Matni sports hub aimed at positive youth engagement. Officials say practical implementation will begin soon following a detailed strategy designed to steer young people toward healthy recreational activities.

The initial phase will prioritise cricket, reflecting its popularity across Pakistan and especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but the plan outlines introducing additional sports in phases to build a lasting sporting culture in Tehsil Matni. Mr Manan stressed that sports are an effective tool to keep youth away from negative influences while instilling discipline and teamwork.

Present at the announcement was Malik Farman Ali, Managing Director of Malik International Cricket Academy, who welcomed the initiative and pledged support for talent development across Pishtakhra, Peshawar and the province. The programme aims to create pathways for identifying promising athletes and nurturing them to compete at national and international levels.

Local elders expressed optimism that the Matni sports project will provide a healthier environment for young residents and create opportunities that bring pride to the district and the province. Officials emphasised coordinated planning and community participation as key to making Matni a recognised centre for youth sport and development.
