The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially announced details concerning the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025, including its date, revised curriculum, and exam structure.
The announcement came during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, chaired by Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani. PMDC officials briefed the committee and confirmed the MDCAT 2025 would be conducted simultaneously across Pakistan on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
PMDC President Dr. Rizwan Taj elaborated on the newly revised curriculum for MDCAT 2025, which now encompasses five core subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. He noted that this revision was formulated through extensive consultations involving academic experts, various educational boards, and university representatives.
According to Dr. Taj, the examination will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), to be completed within three hours. It will be entirely MCQ-based, without negative marking. The questions will be carefully distributed in terms of difficulty: 15 percent easy, 70 percent moderate, and 15 percent challenging.
He further highlighted the admission criteria, stating that candidates would need to achieve a minimum of 55 percent marks to qualify for medical colleges and at least 50 percent marks for dental colleges admissions.
In anticipation of MDCAT 2025, PMDC has initiated the development of a comprehensive question bank to ensure proper preparation and consistency in testing standards nationwide.
