Dr. Noman Ahmed Ansari of Rawalpindi Women University participated as a panelist at the National Dialogue on Strengthening Media & Information Literacy (MIL) Framework in Pakistan, an event aimed at enhancing the country’s response to challenges in the digital media landscape. The dialogue, organized by UNESCO in partnership with Media Foundation 360, SZABIST Islamabad, and the University of the Punjab, gathered prominent media professionals, journalists, and academicians. Federal Minister Mr. Ahsan Iqbal served as the Chief Guest.
During the panel discussion, Dr. Ansari advocated for educational approaches to counter disinformation, emphasizing the development of critical thinking skills and media literacy competencies rather than imposing restrictive controls on online speech. He highlighted the importance of empowering citizens through education, protecting freedom of expression, and building institutional resilience within the media sector. Dr. Ansari also underscored the need for tailored educational strategies and robust institutional support to strengthen the country’s media landscape.
