**Prime Minister Unveils Pakistan’s Digital Platform for Medical Device Registration**
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched a pioneering digital system aimed at transforming the registration and licensing of medical devices in Pakistan. The new platform, developed collaboratively by the Ministry of National Health Services and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), is set to significantly modernize healthcare regulation, bolstering both transparency and efficiency across the industry.
The official unveiling took place at a high-profile ceremony in Islamabad, attended by a host of senior government officials, including Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, ministers Attaullah Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Shaza Fatima, as well as provincial health ministers, senators, ambassadors, and leading representatives from the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
A highlight of the event came when Prime Minister Sharif, accompanied by Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, formally activated the digital system in a symbolic gesture signaling Pakistan’s shift toward technological advancement in healthcare administration.
Addressing participants, Prime Minister Sharif praised the Health Minister for his visionary leadership and characterized the new digital platform as a landmark step forward for the country’s medical sector. He affirmed that greater digitization would improve the quality of service delivery, strengthen regulatory compliance, and enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness on a global scale.
The digital registration system is expected to simplify and accelerate the issuance of licenses for medical devices, cut through bureaucratic inefficiencies, and offer greater transparency to both local and international stakeholders. Officials described the launch as a significant stride towards the government’s broader objective of creating a digitally integrated and responsive healthcare infrastructure.
