UNFPA Pakistan, with technical support from Burnet Institute Australia, marked an important milestone by delivering a five-day National BS Midwifery Faculty Development – Simulation Workshop designed to strengthen midwifery education and sharpen the clinical teaching skills of faculty who are preparing the next generation of midwives in Pakistan.
The workshop brought together instructors and curriculum developers from MONHSR&C, Health Services Academy and partner institutions to focus on simulation-led learning that mirrors real-life maternal and newborn scenarios. By prioritizing realistic clinical practice, the initiative aims to raise the standard of midwifery education and ensure that graduates are better equipped to manage births and complications.
Strengthening faculty competencies through practical simulation training is expected to cascade into improved classroom instruction and supervised clinical placements, helping health institutions across Pakistan expand high-quality midwifery training. Enhanced faculty skills are key to ensuring every mother and newborn receives the care they deserve.
Continued collaboration between UNFPA Pakistan, Burnet Institute and national stakeholders underscores a sustained commitment to modernize midwifery education, align teaching with international best practice and build capacity so that midwifery programs can meet growing needs in maternal and newborn health.
