The Millat Tractors Governors Cup was formally unveiled at a press conference at Lahore Gymkhana where organisers confirmed a record number of entrants for the 2025 edition, signalling growing interest across Pakistan’s golfing community. Millat Tractors representative Ahsan Imran joined Gymkhana Golf Convenor Wajid Aziz, Tournament Director Adil Jehangir and Media Director Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed to brief the media on the tournament’s expanded field and logistics.
Officials highlighted that the Governors Cup has gained prominence because of its distinctive handicap format, which is designed to level the playing field and generate intense competition between golfers of differing abilities. Organisers said the competitive handicap structure has been a key factor in attracting both seasoned players and ambitious newcomers.
The tournament will feature a strong contingent of elite single-handicap competitors, with Mohsin Zafar, Sameer Iftikhar and Taimur Shabbir among those expected to vie for top honours. Organisers also confirmed a notable rise in female participation, reflecting growing enthusiasm for women’s golf at club and national levels.
With increased entries, robust sponsorship backing and a high-calibre playing list, the Governors Cup is set to deliver a competitive showcase at Lahore Gymkhana that many in Pakistan’s golfing circuit are eagerly anticipating. Officials said the expanded field underlines the event’s reputation as a must-play tournament on the national golfing calendar.
