The Millat Tractors Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 began at the Punjab Tennis Academy in Bagh-e-Jinnah, bringing together young players from across the country as they vie for national honours. The tournament, supported by Millat Tractors, aims to provide a competitive platform for rising talent and reinforce the development pathway in Pakistan’s junior tennis scene.
Imran Ayub, Senior Manager Administration at Millat Tractors, attended the opening ceremony as chief guest, while the occasion also drew prominent figures from the lawn tennis community. Rashid Malik, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Senior Executive Vice President of the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association, addressed participants and spectators, praising the players and urging them to compete with zeal, discipline and passion and to aim for international representation. Tournament referee Faheem Siddiqui, PLTA seniors coach Mehboob Waheed Jan and Syed Sajid Ali Bukhari, President of the Parents Tennis Lovers Association, were among those present alongside coaches, parents and supporters.
On court, the boys’ U-18 first-round produced a string of convincing results. Hamza Ali Rizwan defeated Hassan Alam 6-1, 6-1, while Aliyan Ali overcame Muteeb ur Rehman 6-4, 6-2 and M Umar Ali outplayed Bilal Awais 6-0, 6-4. Muhammad Muaz recorded a comfortable 6-0, 6-1 win over Faizan Haider, and Muhammad Ahmad Afzal beat Lubaid Ahmad Khan 6-1, 6-4. Ruhab Faisal dominated Abdullah Pirzada 6-1, 6-0, Moazam Babar defeated Romail Shahid 6-2, 6-2, and Atiq ur Rehman secured a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Zayd Mansoor. The tightest contest saw Aalay Hussain mount a comeback to beat Rehaan Khan 3-6, 7-6, 6-1.
The boys’ U-14 opening matches featured several one-sided displays and close battles alike. Muhammad Junaid defeated Daniyal Abdullah 4-1, 4-2, while Ohad-e-Mustafa produced a flawless 4-0, 4-0 win over Daniyal Afzal Malik. Muhammad Muaz continued his strong form with a 4-1, 4-2 victory against Ahmad Khuda Bakhsh. Salaar Khan beat Salman Pirzada 4-2, 4-2, and Ashtar Alam Khan blanked Muhammad Turab Bhatti 4-0, 4-0. Identical 4-0, 4-0 wins were recorded by Mustafa Uzair Rana over M Husnain and Shahzain Faisal against M Mamnoon Bari. Ryan Umer Khalil defeated M Ehsan Bari 4-1, 4-0, M Ibraheem Hussain Gill beat Moazzam Babar 4-1, 4-0, and Muhammad Faizan edged past M Daniyal 4-2, 5-3.
The opening day highlighted both dominant performances and resilient comebacks, underlining why the Junior Tennis championship is a key stage for Pakistan’s future players. Action continues as the draw advances and local interest remains high at Bagh-e-Jinnah.
