Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada inaugurated the newly constructed sports complex at Royal Institute of Medical Sciences in Multan on Friday, a development aimed at strengthening student athletics and campus life. The RIMS sports complex is expected to provide modern facilities for both physical training and recreational activity.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister stressed the importance of promoting sports and healthy activities among students, saying such initiatives contribute to both physical wellbeing and mental development. He praised the institute’s management for investing in infrastructure that complements academic standards and enhances extracurricular engagement through the new RIMS sports complex.
Minister Pirzada also commended the college administration for setting aside quota seats for underprivileged students from Khairpur Tamewali and Hasilpur, highlighting the social impact of educational access. Recalling his brief tenure as Sports Minister, he noted that Pakistan secured 37 medals during that period and added a personal note by remembering his own days as a school sports champion.
The event drew faculty, students and local dignitaries, with notable attendees including Director Hajj Rehan Abbas Khokhar, SSP Operations Bahawalpur Malik Hassan Raza Khaki, DG Health Dr. Ali Mehdi, CO of Multan Institute of Kidney Disease Dr. Ali Imran, Dr. Nisar ur Rehman, Dean Roshan Gerdazi, Syed Raza Gerdazi, Syed Abid Imam and MPA Qasim Langah. Organizers said the facility will serve as a focal point for student activity and community engagement around campus sports.
Officials and college representatives expressed confidence that the RIMS sports complex will encourage broader participation in athletics, support student wellbeing and help nurture future talent in Multan’s medical education community.
