Mir Group and Shahid Afridi launch Vision Pakistan 2030 to train 10 million youth with digital skills and boost tourism, housing and flood relief action.

Mir Group chairman Shakil Ahmed Mir and former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi announced Vision Pakistan 2030 at the National Press Club in Islamabad, with Afridi named as the project’s brand ambassador to help take the national cause to completion.

The initiative aims to make young people self-reliant through digital skills training, prioritising those affected by recent floods. Under Vision Pakistan 2030 the group plans a free online platform to teach modern technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence and digital skills, with a target to train 10 million youth by 2030. The first phase will begin by 2025, registering one million students online and giving preference to flood-affected candidates.

Practical training and networking will be supported by co-working spaces in major cities, providing hands-on experience and opportunities for collaboration. The programme emphasises not only job readiness but also entrepreneurship so graduates can create employment and compete in global markets.

Tourism development is a core pillar of Vision Pakistan 2030, with plans to build 21 serviced apartment towers in the northern areas and other tourist destinations to raise standards and attract visitors. The housing component, including the Onyx Project, envisions budget-friendly, sustainable housing across districts and eventual smart city development to modernise urban infrastructure.

To boost local businesses the project will first launch an online platform connecting local enterprises with investors, followed by physical business hubs in major cities and districts. Organisers say the plan is worth billions of dollars and will help integrate Pakistani businesses into international markets.

Shakil Ahmed Mir underlined that the initiative also responds to the immediate needs of millions displaced by floods, stressing that this moment requires practical action alongside sympathy. He highlighted Pakistan’s demographic strength, noting around 65 percent of the population is under 30, and warned that widespread youth unemployment is a major challenge to national progress.

Shahid Afridi described Vision Pakistan 2030 as a source of hope for the nation and voiced his personal support for the project. Both organisers pledged to work together to implement the plan, prioritise flood relief through skill-building, and move the country toward sustainable economic growth.
