The Inter Board Coordination Commission, in collaboration with the Aga Khan University Examination Board, organized a three-day workshop on a model assessment framework at the Federal Board auditorium in Islamabad to strengthen conceptual assessment practices and build the professional capacity of examiners, paper setters, and assessors across Pakistan.
The workshop was convened by the Inter Board Coordination Commission and the Aga Khan University Examination Board and took place at the Federal Board auditorium in Islamabad. The opening ceremony was chaired by Executive Director of IBCC Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah and Chairman of the Federal Board, Professor Dr. Ikram Ali Malik. Senior trainers and education experts also attended.
Deputy Director IBCC Saadia Naz led the workshop, supported by Aga Khan University Examination Board specialists Muneera Mohammad, Kashif Hussain, and Ali Bejani. The three-day programme combined presentations, training sessions and expert-led discussions aimed at improving assessment design and practices.
In his remarks, Dr. Mallah emphasized that conceptual examinations are essential for achieving meaningful learning outcomes because they prioritize application of knowledge, problem solving and critical thinking rather than rote memorization. Professor Dr. Malik highlighted the central role of assessment in education and underlined the importance of digitalization in modern learning systems. He shared research findings addressing question review, selection and improvement, and stressed the need for evidence-based reforms.
Organizers said the workshop was designed to enhance the professional skills of examiners, paper setters and assessors so they can promote conceptual teaching and assessment nationwide. The Federal Board’s provision of the venue was described as a strong example of inter-agency cooperation in advancing national education reforms.
The press release was issued by the Public Relations Department of the Inter Board Coordination Commission.
