Mr. Shanid Qureshi briefed Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal on plans for the Model Nursing Institute, presenting a roadmap to strengthen nursing education and services across the country. The briefing focused on concrete steps to raise standards and align training with international benchmarks under the Model Nursing Institute framework.
Present at the meeting were the Secretary, the Special Secretary, the Additional Secretary and the Joint Secretary (Administration), all of whom engaged in detailed discussion about curriculum reform, faculty development and improved student facilities. The plan emphasised a modern curriculum, recruitment and training of qualified faculty, and upgrading campus amenities to support student learning and wellbeing.
The delegation highlighted measures to enhance the nursing profession’s capacity through targeted training programmes and institutional support, noting that the Model Nursing Institute would serve as a template for nationwide replication. Emphasis was placed on ensuring the curriculum meets global standards while addressing local healthcare needs.
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal declared nursing development a priority and instructed all relevant officers to prepare formal recommendations for the implementation of the Model Nursing Institute. These recommendations are expected to outline timelines, resource needs and administrative steps required to operationalise the model and expand its impact across Pakistan.
