**Peshawar Commissioner Commends Mohmand Forest Department’s Monsoon Plantation Drive**
Commissioner Peshawar, Mr. Riaz Khan Mehsud, paid a visit to Ghalani in the Mohmand Forest Division, where he lauded the ongoing efforts of the local forest department in advancing monsoon plantation initiatives. The visit, which included the ceremonial planting of a tree, highlighted the achievements made by the department in promoting environmental sustainability despite numerous challenges.
Accompanied by heads of various line departments, Mr. Mehsud was received by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mohmand and the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Upper Mohmand, as well as forestry staff. The Deputy Commissioner of Mohmand briefed the delegation on the progress of the ongoing monsoon plantation drive, emphasizing the targets reached so far in the district.
Commissioner Mehsud expressed his appreciation for the forest department’s dedication to combating climate change and meeting its plantation goals under difficult circumstances. He urged other government departments to emulate the forest department’s commitment and to extend their full cooperation in supporting initiatives aimed at protecting the environment. The commissioner stressed the importance of inter-departmental collaboration to ensure the success of afforestation efforts and the broader fight against climate change in the region.
