The Ministry of Human Rights, in partnership with the EU Delegation to Pakistan, co-chaired the second meeting of the Project Steering Committee for the Huqooq-e-Pakistan Phase II project to assess progress and plan the year ahead. The session brought together Provincial Human Rights Departments, National Human Rights Institutions, UNDP Pakistan and representatives from the Economic Affairs and Inter-Provincial Coordination Divisions to ensure a coordinated approach across federal and provincial levels.
Participants reviewed progress under the project’s four pillars and examined priorities for the upcoming year with a clear emphasis on evidence-based policy initiatives. Discussions focused on strengthening measures to counter gender-based violence, prevent child abuse and advance business and human rights, with UNDP Pakistan providing technical input to translate lessons into practical interventions.
Annual workplans for Huqooq-e-Pakistan Phase II were presented and endorsed, reflecting consensus on near-term targets and resource alignment. Stakeholders reaffirmed their collective commitment to strengthening human rights mechanisms across Pakistan and to using data-driven strategies to guide policy and implementation.
Officials underlined the importance of continued collaboration between provincial departments, national institutions and development partners to sustain momentum and deliver measurable improvements in protection and access to rights for vulnerable groups.
