MoHR and ILO convened provincial workshops in Quetta and Karachi to advance Business and Human Rights and CECAR reporting, driving practical recommendations for stronger compliance.

The Ministry of Human Rights, in partnership with the International Labour Organization, held provincial workshops in Quetta and Karachi focused on Business and Human Rights and CECAR reporting. These sessions brought together public officials, civil society representatives and private sector actors to discuss practical steps for aligning business operations with human rights obligations.

Ms. Khaola Batool, Deputy Director at the Ministry of Human Rights, briefed attendees on the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP-BHR), Pakistan’s international reporting responsibilities and ongoing initiatives to promote responsible business practices. The presentations emphasised the role of employers and regulators in fostering inclusive workplaces and advancing women’s economic empowerment.

Participants engaged in dialogue on improving CECAR reporting and implementing the NAP-BHR at provincial and corporate levels. Emphasis was placed on actionable recommendations that can be adopted by government bodies and businesses to enhance accountability, strengthen compliance and ensure that economic activity respects human rights across Pakistan.

Organisers said the workshops aim to build sustained cooperation between stakeholders, support follow-up measures at the provincial level and encourage the private sector to integrate human rights due diligence into everyday operations. The collaboration between MoHR and the ILO is intended to drive concrete progress on Business and Human Rights in the country.
