On 26 November 2025 MoNHSR&C hosted the second consultative meeting to develop the PPFP Detailed Implementation Plan for the Islamabad Capital Territory, with technical support from Ipas and financial support from UNFPA.
About 25 experts drawn from ICT health departments and partner organisations took part in focused discussions to prioritise key interventions aimed at strengthening postpartum and postabortion family planning services. Participants examined service delivery gaps and agreed on practical measures to increase access and quality of care as the PPFP plan moves toward finalisation.
Dr. Shabana Saleem, Director General for Population Planning and Welfare, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing PPFP services and to initiatives designed to improve contraceptive uptake across maternal health services in the capital. She emphasised collaboration with technical and funding partners to ensure the PPFP plan translates into measurable improvements.
Delegates agreed next steps to operationalise priority interventions within health facilities and community touchpoints in the ICT region, with an emphasis on integrating postpartum and postabortion family planning into routine maternal care. The consultative process will inform a detailed implementation roadmap to guide rollout and monitoring.
