Murree marathon Access Run brought students together to celebrate World Tourism Day with sport, education and youth empowerment through the English Access Program.

The hills of Murree echoed with energy as hundreds of students took part in the Access Run, a marathon organised to mark World Tourism Day under the theme Tourism and Peace. The Murree marathon drew participants from the city and neighbouring areas and highlighted the role of youth engagement in promoting sustainable tourism, cultural exchange and community pride.

The event was hosted by Kohsar University Murree in collaboration with Vision Building Future through the English Access Micro-scholarship Program, with funding support from the U.S. Embassy Islamabad. Organisers said the run aimed to combine physical activity with cross-cultural learning and to showcase how education initiatives can support local tourism economies.

Mr. Chad Morris, Public Diplomacy Program Management Officer at the U.S. Embassy Islamabad, attended as Guest of Honor and praised the students for their commitment. He emphasised how the English Access Program builds language skills, confidence and leadership among young Pakistanis, opening doors to educational and professional opportunities beyond the region.

Pro Vice Chancellor of Kohsar University Murree, Professor Dr. Muhammad Sultan, lauded the collaborative effort and stressed the university’s commitment to student development. He noted that events such as the Murree marathon encourage teamwork and perseverance—qualities important for future leaders and for communities that rely on tourism.

Representatives from Vision Building Future described the marathon as a symbol of unity, discipline and mutual respect aligned with World Tourism Day values. The race concluded with medals and certificates presented to top performers, while participants and spectators praised the event as motivational and reflective of Murree’s vibrant youth talent.

The English Access Program, which provides two years of English instruction to deserving students from underserved communities, was highlighted throughout the event as a catalyst for broader participation in the tourism sector. Organisers expressed hope that strengthened communication skills and leadership training will help students engage more actively with the region’s tourism potential.
