A group of leading Muslim international NGOs in Pakistan has pledged to deliver urgent assistance to communities affected by recent devastating floods in Mansehra, Buner, and Swat. Hundreds of families have been displaced, homes destroyed, and lives lost due to severe cloudbursts and widespread flooding in these regions.
An emergency meeting of the Muslim INGOs Forum, which brings together organizations focused on disaster response, was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad Rizwan at the Zakat Foundation of America office in Islamabad. Senior representatives from several prominent organizations—including Zakat Foundation of America, Muslim Aid, Islamic Relief, Muslim Hands, Pak-Aid, Human Relief Foundation Baitul Mal USA, and READ Foundation—participated in the session to assess the scale of the crisis and coordinate their response.
The participating NGOs unanimously agreed to launch a coordinated relief effort under the Forum’s banner. The immediate response will focus on distributing cooked food, essential rations, and household utensils to families severely affected by the floods.
Specialized rapid response teams, some already working in the impacted areas, will be strengthened and expanded to reach more communities in need. The Forum has pledged an initial amount of USD 1 million to fund these emergency relief operations.
Once the urgent needs are met, the NGOs plan to provide long-term recovery and reconstruction assistance to help the affected families rebuild their lives.
