Mustafa Kamal presided over a high level meeting at the Ministry of Health where senior officials were briefed on the operations and future plans of Federal General Hospital Chak Shehzad. The session included the Special Secretary Health, Additional Secretary Health and the Joint Secretary (Health).
The Executive Director of Federal General Hospital Chak Shehzad delivered a comprehensive briefing on the 200-bed secondary care facility, explaining how large rural communities from Islamabad depend on the hospital for treatment and referrals.
The director outlined the hospital’s overall performance, ongoing and proposed development projects, administrative issues and the health services provided to the public. Recommendations and proposals addressing current challenges and future expansion were formally presented to the ministry.
Mustafa Kamal emphasised strengthening primary and secondary health systems to reduce the burden on major hospitals and to improve access to care across the capital. He directed officials to prioritise measures that expand capacity and enhance service delivery at local hospitals.
The ministry will review the submitted recommendations and collaborate with hospital leadership to implement feasible reforms, with improvement in the health sector maintained as a primary priority by Mustafa Kamal.
