The Nestle for Healthier Kids initiative moved into action with N4HK Training at the National Special Education Centre for Physically Challenged Children in G-8/4, Islamabad, advancing the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training’s effort to enhance special education through capacity building and meaningful corporate collaboration.
The programme session was coordinated by the National Institute of Special Education and welcomed 45 faculty members and professionals from the Directorate General of Special Education service delivery centres. Participants represented a cross-section of special education staff committed to improving student health and learning outcomes.
The first technical presentation was delivered by Ms. Sara Farooq, a registered dietitian and nutritionist, who focused on nutrition awareness and practical promotion of healthy lifestyle practices within special education settings. The session was delivered with full accessibility through sign language to ensure inclusive participation for all attendees.
Although the session took place in the latter part of the day, faculty and professionals remained attentive and actively engaged, reflecting strong commitment to professional growth and student wellbeing. The N4HK Training emphasis on applied nutrition guidance was designed to be relevant to everyday classroom and service environments.
Capt. (R) Asif Iqbal Asif, Director General DGSE, addressed participants and stressed the need for sustained professional development and the integration of health education across special education centres. Ms. Zaira Ahmad, Manager Corporate Affairs & Creating Shared Value at Nestle Pakistan, reaffirmed the company’s support for inclusive and sustainable health initiatives under the N4HK Training framework.
The sessions will continue on Friday and Saturday and will be rolled out in phases across all Special Education Centres under DGSE. Dedicated sessions for parents and students are planned to extend the programme’s reach and help secure a long-term impact on nutrition and inclusive education practices.
