The National Academy of Higher Education brought together PhD faculty for the ‘Plant a Promise’ activity, where participants planted saplings and committed to nurturing them as living symbols of sustainability and lifelong learning. The event highlighted the role of educators in modelling environmental stewardship within academic communities.
Aligned with SDG 13 on Climate Action and SDG 15 on Life on Land, the initiative underlines NAHE’s dedication to embedding sustainable values in higher education. By planting trees on campus grounds, faculty aimed to create greener learning environments and inspire students to engage with conservation efforts.
Faculty members framed the pledge as a long-term commitment to care for the saplings and to promote sustainable practices in teaching and campus management. The Plant a Promise activity positions campus ecosystems as practical sites for climate action and for fostering a culture of ecological responsibility across Pakistan’s higher education sector.
