National Skills University marked a transformative year with sustainability ranking, UNESCO-UNEVOC ties, campus expansion and strong graduate employment outcomes.

The Employee Appreciation ceremony in Islamabad opened with Minister of State MoFE&PT Ms. Wajiha Qamar calling National Skills University’s progress exemplary and urging that ecosystems of skills, sustainability and innovation be replicated across the country.

Faculty, administrators, technical staff and university leadership gathered to reflect on a year that cemented the university’s standing as one of Pakistan’s most progressive public institutions. National Skills University’s ranking as the country’s second-best sustainable federal university highlighted a model that places environmental responsibility on equal footing with employability.

The university’s international profile strengthened as Pakistan’s only Centre affiliated with UNESCO-UNEVOC and with a designation as a European Centre of Vocational Excellence, positioning National Skills University as a conduit between international best practices in technical and vocational education and local workforce needs.WhatsApp Image 2026 01 02 at 3.22.41 PM

Expansion on the ground continued with construction of the Sarmad Tanveer Campus in Muridke, part of a deliberate effort to extend skills-based education beyond the capital to areas with untapped potential. National Skills University also secured Qualification Awarding Body status from the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission, bolstering its ability to issue nationally recognized, industry-aligned credentials.

Outcomes for learners were a central focus at the ceremony. The university reported that 133 graduates from its first graduating class of 2025 have already entered the job market, with several recipients earning competitive scholarships for further study overseas. Across the main campus and sub-campuses in Muridke and Sheikhupura, more than 2,000 students received training in various skilled trades, reflecting growing confidence in skills-based pathways to economic mobility.

National Skills University’s involvement in the NAVTTC–TAKAMOL Skills Verification Initiative further extended its national influence, with over 1,200 skilled professionals assessed at the main campus before moving on to employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia. The programme underlined how technical education is increasingly linked to labour mobility and remittance-driven growth.

The founding vice chancellor attributed these milestones to the collective efforts of staff and described them not as endpoints but as evidence of sustained dedication to quality vocational education, innovation and international collaboration. Certificates of appreciation presented across all levels offered tangible recognition of the people who turn institutional ambition into results.
