The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission partnered with Team Europe’s TVET Sector Support Programme for a two-day International Dialogue on TVET in the Shifting Socio-Economic Paradigm held this week, bringing renewed focus to skills development in Pakistan.
Government, industry, academia, civil society and international partners took part to examine how improved governance, greater inclusivity, environmental sustainability and closer labour market alignment can help build a future-ready skills ecosystem. Participants discussed practical steps to strengthen TVET pathways so young people can meet evolving employer demands.
The event was inaugurated by Philipp Oliver Gross, EU Deputy Chief of Mission, alongside Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chairman PM Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Khan, and Minister of State Salik Hussain. The two-day Dialogue closed with remarks from EU Head of Cooperation Jeroen Willems together with German Ambassador Ina Lepel, underscoring strong international support for Pakistan’s skills agenda.
Organisers said the Dialogue has laid a firm foundation for coordinated action to equip young people, with particular emphasis on women and marginalised groups, with the technical and vocational skills they need to thrive. Continued collaboration between NAVTTC, Team Europe and national stakeholders aims to make TVET more responsive to Pakistan’s changing socio-economic landscape.
