Third steering committee meeting advances TVET Sector initiatives as NAVTTC, GIZ and British Council plan collaborative actions in Islamabad.

The third Project Steering Committee meeting of the GIZ-EU partnership was held today at NAVTTC Headquarters in Islamabad, bringing together key stakeholders to drive progress in the TVET Sector. The session was co-chaired by Mr Muhammad Amir Jan, Executive Director NAVTTC, and Mr Jeroen Willems, Head of Development Cooperation at the European Union Delegation.

Representatives from GIZ and the British Council presented a comprehensive overview of the programme’s current activities and planned interventions. Discussions focused on strengthening the TVET Sector Support Programme, which is co-funded by the EU and Germany and jointly implemented by GIZ and the British Council in collaboration with NAVTTC.

Members exchanged views on initiatives to boost institutional capacity, align curricula with labour market needs, and enhance trainer development. Emphasis was placed on expanding private sector linkages and ensuring inclusive access to technical and vocational training across regions, reinforcing the role of the TVET Sector in supporting Pakistan’s workforce development.

Participants agreed to pursue coordinated steps to translate programme plans into measurable outcomes, improve employability for trainees, and deepen cooperation between international partners and national institutions. The meeting underscored continued commitment to strengthening the TVET Sector through collaborative planning and targeted interventions.
