NCRC Advances Child Rights at ACCR Meeting

NCRC reviewed progress on Child Rights at the 8th ACCR meeting and issued recommendations for the incoming Commission to strengthen protection and policy.

The National Commission on the Rights of the Child convened its eighth meeting of the Advisory Committee on Child Rights, bringing together government officials, civil society representatives and development partners to review progress on Child Rights in Pakistan.

Ayesha Raza Farooq, Chairperson NCRC, welcomed participants and underscored the need for sustained collaboration to advance child protection as the current Commission approaches the end of its tenure. This meeting served as the final ACCR convening under the present Commission.

Mr Khalid Naeem, Member ICT, delivered a comprehensive presentation on initiatives undertaken by the Commission, highlighting measurable progress across priority areas including child marriage, child labour and child online protection, as well as broader child rights interventions.

Participants used the session to reflect on achievements, identify remaining gaps and consolidate practical recommendations. Contributions from stakeholders focused on actionable steps to strengthen monitoring, prevention and rehabilitation mechanisms related to child rights.

Representatives from the Ministry of Human Rights, UNICEF and other partners provided inputs to guide the incoming Commission, with emphasis on maintaining momentum and ensuring that policy and programmatic efforts continue to protect and promote child rights nationwide.
