NCSW convenes private sector in Islamabad to strengthen Gender Data and consolidate WEF indicators for economic empowerment and coordinated national reporting.

The National Commission on the Status of Women in Islamabad convened the first roundtable with private sector leaders to align World Economic Forum indicators and strengthen gender data for economic empowerment and climate action.

Ume Laila Azhar said, “Private sector data holds the evidence we need to make women’s impact visible in Pakistan’s progress story”. The Chairperson urged adoption of a unified data approach to ensure inclusion, accuracy and accountability in national reporting.

NCSW is pursuing consolidation of WEF indicators through a comprehensive framework designed to showcase best practices from across Pakistan and to synchronise data collection between government departments, regulatory agencies and corporations. The initiative aims to reduce fragmentation and create comparable, high-quality gender data that can inform policy and private sector strategies.

Participants discussed how improved gender data can support evidence-based policies for women’s economic empowerment and inform climate-related planning that recognises gendered impacts. Private sector engagement was highlighted as critical for filling data gaps and demonstrating scalable practices that accelerate inclusion.

Moving forward, NCSW will continue stakeholder consultations to promote a unified approach to gender data and push for interoperable standards that strengthen national reporting and accountability while making women’s contributions more visible in Pakistan’s development narrative.
