The National Disaster Management Authority successfully carried out the Sixth Comprehensive International Simulation Exercise focused on a cyclone contingency scenario set within Pakistanโs geographic context. Conducted in a hybrid format, CISE 6 combined online participation from abroad with in-person activity at the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) in Islamabad.
Delegations from Thailand, China, Uzbekistan, Iran, Tรผrkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan joined the exercise, alongside the Economic Cooperation Organization, multiple United Nations agencies and Pakistani non-governmental organisations. International participants contributed technical expertise and constructive feedback throughout the simulation.
All wings of NDMA engaged actively in response operations during the exercise, testing coordination, communication and resource management under the simulated cyclone impacts. Remote involvement allowed overseas specialists to observe and advise in real time while local teams validated procedures and decision-making at NEOC.
CISE 6 provided an important platform for exchange of best practices and mutual learning, reinforcing a proactive, collaborative and resilient approach to disaster management. By emphasising shared protocols, information exchange and multi-agency coordination, the exercise aimed to strengthen Pakistanโs preparedness for cyclone hazards and deepen regional cooperation on disaster resilience.
