The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) recently welcomed participants from the National Defence University’s 15th National Media Workshop to its National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC). The visit aimed to provide senior media professionals, influencers, and representatives from public institutions with firsthand insight into Pakistan’s disaster management and response systems.

During the visit, the delegation received an in-depth briefing on NEOC’s operational framework. Key features included real-time disaster monitoring, national coordination mechanisms, and the centre’s critical function in disaster preparedness and response across the country.

The session emphasized NEOC’s advanced use of technology, data-driven decision-making tools, and streamlined inter-agency communication protocols, all of which are essential for managing emergencies efficiently. The importance of strategic communication and prompt, accurate information dissemination during disaster situations was also a focal point of the briefing, underlining the role of media and information flow in effective disaster management.
