Net Zero and Circularity for Pakistan’s Textile Industry

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) jointly organized a seminar in Lahore to address the future of Pakistan’s textile and leather industries in light of global sustainability standards. The event brought together industry leaders, sustainability experts, and policymakers to explore strategies for achieving net zero emissions, embracing circularity, and complying with the European Union’s Green Deal.

Dr. Ayazuddin delivered a session focused on the importance of pursuing net zero emissions and adopting circular practices within the textiles sector. He emphasized the necessity for the industry to implement resource-efficient processes and reduce its environmental footprint to remain competitive in international markets.

Adeel Younas discussed sustainability within the leather industry, highlighting the growing demand for responsible sourcing, waste minimization, and eco-friendly production methods. He outlined how these measures can help Pakistani leather producers meet stricter international regulations and appeal to environmentally conscious consumers.

Addressing the future path for Pakistan’s textile sector, Hasan Shafqat emphasized the need for innovation, investment in green technologies, and collaboration across the industry. He called for the development of green supply chains to ensure long-term growth and resilience in global markets.
