Mr. Umar Shahzad, President of the Mirpur AJK Chamber of Commerce, and Ch. Sohaib Saeed, former President of the AJK Chamber, met Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, at the OPF Head Office in Islamabad to discuss priorities for AJK expatriates.
During the OPF meeting the delegation and the chairman explored measures to improve welfare services for overseas Pakistanis and examined investment opportunities that could encourage expatriates to contribute to economic projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The discussions covered practical steps to make engagement easier for nonresident Pakistanis and to identify sectors where their investment could have strong local impact.
The chairman highlighted the need to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and to create incentives for their participation in development initiatives. As part of the OPF meeting outcomes, he requested the Mirpur representatives to lend support and cooperation to the upcoming AJK Overseas Pakistanis Convention, which is tentatively scheduled for February 2026, to ensure broad participation and effective planning.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by regional chambers and the OPF to strengthen ties with the AJK diaspora and to promote sustainable investment channels. Local stakeholders said continued coordination between the Mirpur Chamber and OPF will be important to translate these discussions into tangible benefits for expatriates and communities in AJK.
