Orphans in Need expands Pakistan program to sponsor 2,000 children and support 10,000 families with education, health and winter aid.

British charity Orphans in Need will expand its Pakistan programme to sponsor an additional 2,000 children, a move expected to benefit roughly 10,000 families across multiple districts, officials said at the National Press Club in Islamabad. The announcement was made by British MP Imran Hussain alongside Head of Fundraising Altaf Hussain and Community Fundraising Coordinator (Bradford) Mazammil Khan.

The expanded work will target impoverished and orphaned communities in Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Mansehra, Mardan, Malakand, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Mirpur. Orphans in Need will focus on ensuring access to housing, healthcare and education for widows, orphans and other vulnerable households in these areas.

Locally the charity already supports around 14,000 people in Pakistan, while its international operations cover fourteen countries and more than 120,000 orphans. In Pakistan the organisation currently provides monthly education, health and nutrition assistance to about 1,100 orphan children, enabling children to access essential services that support their growth and long‑term wellbeing.

Officials said the programme includes seasonal assistance through a winter scheme and pre‑Ramadan distribution of food and winter packs so families can observe the holy month with dignity. The charity highlighted that more than one hundred children who completed education under its programmes have gone on to serve as doctors, lawyers and teachers.

The expansion underscores Orphans in Need’s ongoing commitment to strengthen community resilience in Pakistan by expanding sponsorship, improving access to services and building opportunities for young people to complete their education and contribute to their communities.
