Syed Rafiullah has been unanimously elected as Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. The decision was made during a committee meeting at the Parliament House in Islamabad, where members expressed their confidence in his leadership and pledged their support for his tenure.
The meeting began with a welcome from the Joint Secretary (Committees) of the National Assembly Secretariat, who provided an overview of the election process. Syed Rafiullah’s nomination was proposed by Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti and seconded by Mohammad Ilyas Choudhry, both members of the committee. With no other nominations, Rafiullah was elected unanimously.
Following his election, the newly appointed Chairman was congratulated by the Joint Secretary on behalf of the National Assembly’s Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Secretary General. The Secretariat assured Syed Rafiullah of their full cooperation to ensure the committee functions effectively and efficiently.
In his remarks, Syed Rafiullah thanked the committee members for their trust and promised to conduct the committee’s work through consensus and collaboration. Members responded positively, voicing their support for his leadership and the legislative process ahead.
Senior National Assembly officials and several prominent MNAs, including Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Chief Whip of the ruling party, and Aijaz Hussain Jhakrani, Whip for PPPP, also attended the meeting. Both leaders congratulated Syed Rafiullah and committed their support to the committee’s activities moving forward.
