A new padel tennis court has been inaugurated at Islamabad Model College for Girls (F-8/1), funded and facilitated by the Pakistan Sports Board and the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination. The ceremony was attended by Federal Secretary IPC Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani and Director General Pakistan Sports Board Mr. Yasir Pirzada, marking a step toward improving sports infrastructure in government colleges.
The project stems from the vision of Federal Secretary IPC Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, who highlighted the shortage of sports facilities in educational institutions. Through coordinated efforts by IPC and the Pakistan Sports Board, students will gain access to modern and inclusive sports infrastructure, with padel tennis prominently part of the plan.
Three padel tennis courts have already been completed at Islamabad Model College for Girls F-8/1, Islamabad College for Girls F-6, and Islamabad College for Boys G-6. Additional courts and other sports facilities are under construction at various colleges across the capital, making padel tennis more accessible to a wider student population.
Once regarded as an elite sport, padel tennis is now being introduced to students from government-run colleges and schools free of cost. Director General Pakistan Sports Board Mr. Yasir Pirzada said the initiative aims to ensure every student, regardless of background, has the opportunity to play, develop skills, and potentially represent Pakistan at the international level.
