The Department of Urology & Transplant Surgery from PAF Hospital Islamabad took a prominent role at UROCON 2025, held at Pearl Continental Hotel Lahore from 6–8 November. Under the leadership of Prof. Saeed Akhter, the team presented clinical experience and research that highlighted multidisciplinary collaboration in managing complex urological patients.
Prof. Saeed Akhter delivered a keynote presentation advocating a Multidisciplinary Team approach, stressing the need for coordinated work between urology, nephrology, oncology, radiology and anesthesiology to achieve safe and effective outcomes. He illustrated these principles with three challenging surgical cases successfully managed at PAF Hospital Islamabad, demonstrating surgical precision and integrated perioperative care.
The delegation included consultants Dr. Muhammad Imran Jamil and Dr. Durre Shohab, assistant consultant Dr. Sadiqa Hassan and a group of postgraduate residents who actively engaged with peers across the country. Their participation reinforced the hospital’s commitment to training and collaborative practice within Pakistan’s urology community.
Postgraduate presentations from the team received notable recognition. Dr. Husnain Hamza Tariq discussed the surgical and anesthetic complexities of a large right pheochromocytoma, while Dr. Muhammad Saleem Khan examined recurrent urinary tract infections in postmenopausal women and was awarded the Best Poster Presentation Award for his work. Dr. Danish Gul presented a rare case of Ascaris lumbricoides found in an augmented urinary bladder and also received a Best Poster Presentation Award for his comprehensive review.
The achievements at UROCON 2025 reflect PAF Hospital Islamabad’s focus on research-driven care, continuous professional development and multidisciplinary treatment pathways. By sharing complex case experience and earning peer recognition, the team strengthened clinical ties across Pakistan and underscored the hospital’s role in advancing urology and transplant surgery nationally.
PAF Hospital Islamabad will continue to prioritise collaborative clinical practice and education, building on the lessons and connections formed at UROCON 2025 to improve patient outcomes and surgical care across the country.
