Pak-EPA inspection at NUST H-12 checked buses and tankers for NEQS compliance to curb emissions and improve Islamabad air quality.

A targeted Pak-EPA inspection of heavy-duty diesel vehicles was carried out at the NUST Main Campus in H-12 to enforce National Environmental Quality Standards for motor vehicle exhaust and noise in the Islamabad Capital Territory. The operation concentrated on buses, coaches and bowser tankers serving the campus.

The activity was led by Mr. Binyameen, Deputy Director (R&I), under the guidance of the Director General of Pak-EPA. Inspectors measured smoke opacity and noise levels against NEQS limits and documented findings on site. Most vehicles examined met the prescribed smoke opacity levels, while a small number were identified as needing maintenance and tuning to achieve full compliance.

Officials noted that part of NUST’s transport services are provided through private vendors. Pak-EPA will schedule follow-up inspections of those outsourced vehicles in coordination with NUST management to ensure uniform adherence to standards across the campus fleet.

The Pak-EPA inspection forms part of the agency’s sustained efforts to reduce vehicular emissions, curb seasonal smog and improve air quality in Islamabad. The drive underscores the importance of collaboration between regulatory authorities, educational institutions and private operators to maintain NEQS compliance and protect public health.
