Pak-EPA Installs Eco-Friendly Bench Made from Seized Plastic at National Press Club Islamabad
Islamabad: A special ceremony was held at the National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad, where the Director General of Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) supervised the official handover of a recycled “green bench” developed entirely from confiscated single-use plastic.
The bench was formally received by Ms. Nayyer Ali, Secretary General of the National Press Club. The initiative symbolizes Pak-EPA’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable recycling and discourage the use of single-use plastics across the country.
According to officials, the bench was manufactured in collaboration with a Lahore-based recycling company, using plastic seized during various anti-plastic raids conducted in Islamabad. DG Pak-EPA highlighted that another similar bench will soon be donated to the Press Club as part of the agency’s environmental awareness drive.
During the ceremony, DG Pak-EPA, Ms. Zeba, was joined by senior officers including Dr. Zegham Abbas and Rashid Cheema. Addressing the attendees, DG Zeba announced that Dr. Zegham Abbas has been officially designated as the focal person for all media queries related to Pak-EPA. She added that the notification for his appointment would be issued the same day, encouraging journalists to contact him directly for updates and clarifications regarding environmental matters.
The event reflected Pak-EPA’s commitment to transforming confiscated plastic waste into useful, sustainable products — turning pollution into progress.
