Islamabad’s Capital Development Authority has opened a newly constructed parking area at the Pak Secretariat to tackle long-standing parking problems for government employees, nearby office workers and visitors. The facility, inspected by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, provides capacity for more than 1,000 vehicles across roughly 133,729 square feet and is intended to reduce traffic congestion and improve convenience in the federal capital.
The inspection at the Pak Secretariat was attended by senior CDA officials, including Member Administration and Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, and other relevant officers. The visit reviewed the project’s features, capacity and readiness for use.
Officials briefed the chairman that the multi‑thousand‑square‑foot parking area can accommodate in excess of one thousand vehicles. The new facility is designed to serve not only Pak Secretariat staff but also employees, visitors and commuters from neighboring government offices, providing a long-term solution to chronic parking shortages.
Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa described the project as part of CDA’s broader effort to modernize civic amenities and make Islamabad a more orderly, citizen-friendly capital. He said resolving basic issues such as parking will ease traffic pressure, save citizens’ time and energy, and improve overall efficiency for government employees.
Mr. Randhawa praised the Engineering Wing and the project team for their work and stressed the importance of similar initiatives to support public service delivery. He ordered that vehicles be parked only in designated spaces and sheds to maintain an orderly system and directed that clear signboards be installed at prominent locations to guide users.
He also instructed immediate improvements and expansion of the existing parking area adjacent to the main mosque at the Pak Secretariat, and called for a new parking facility near the mosque to be activated quickly to address demand from the Secretariat and neighboring offices.
To ensure a safe and comfortable environment, the chairman ordered arrangements for adequate security, lighting and cleanliness within the parking area. He added that CDA will launch additional modern parking projects across other parts of Islamabad to manage the pressures of a growing population and increasing traffic.
