Parliamentary Delegation Strengthens Pakistan Azerbaijan Relations

A parliamentary delegation from Pakistan, led by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, held formal talks with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, in Baku, strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

During the meeting, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq described his recent interactions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Speaker Sahiba Gafarova as highly positive and constructive. He congratulated Prime Minister Asadov for successfully hosting the recent Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit, noting that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s participation symbolized goodwill and solidarity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of Pakistan, the Speaker sincerely thanked Azerbaijan for its unwavering support on the Kashmir issue. Prime Minister Ali Asadov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s principled stance on the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing his country’s consistent backing of Pakistan’s position. He also thanked Pakistan for its steadfast support regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and reiterated that Azerbaijan would never compromise on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Welcoming Azerbaijan’s recent announcement to invest $2 billion in Pakistan, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the immense potential this initiative has to strengthen economic collaboration and deepen bilateral ties. Both leaders underscored the importance of fully implementing the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) signed between the two nations, agreeing that the arrangement would significantly boost mutual trade opportunities.

To further enhance parliamentary cooperation, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the need to strengthen ties between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He also proposed hosting a trilateral Speakers’ Conference in Islamabad in September this year as an important step towards fostering parliamentary dialogue and regional cohesion.
