Pakistan Azerbaijan Parliamentary Meeting Strengthens Ties

Pakistan Azerbaijan ties strengthened as parliamentary groups hold their first virtual meeting to boost cooperation in trade, education, youth exchange and institutions.

On January 15, 2026, the Executive Committee of the Pakistan–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group held its first virtual meeting with the Working Group on Azerbaijan–Pakistan Inter-Parliamentary Relations, connecting Islamabad and Baku to advance parliamentary cooperation. The session focused on practical steps to deepen Pakistan Azerbaijan ties through sustained legislative engagement and follow-up.

Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Convener of the Pakistan–Azerbaijan PFG, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening institutional and parliamentary links and highlighted the role of lawmakers in promoting cooperation in trade, economy, culture, education and youth exchange programmes. He applauded the inauguration of the Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, established with Azerbaijan’s cooperation, and noted the value of specialised training provided under Azerbaijan’s Asaan Khidmat Centre model.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Kamaladdin Gafarov, Head of the Working Group on Azerbaijan–Pakistan Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Milli Majlis, who emphasised deep-rooted friendship and Pakistan’s principled support for Azerbaijan. Delegates from both sides exchanged views on expanding collaboration in agriculture, tourism, research and people-to-people links, underlining parliamentary diplomacy as a key tool to turn dialogue into tangible projects that reinforce Pakistan Azerbaijan ties.

Participants included members of the Pakistan Executive Committee such as Sehar Kamran, Muhammad Moin Aamer Pirzada, Naeema Kishwar Khan and Syeda Amnah Batool, alongside Azerbaijani representatives Arzu Naghiyev, Elshan Musayev, Amina Aghazada, Jeyhun Mammadov and Anar Mammadov. Ambassadors from both capitals noted positive momentum in bilateral ties and praised parliamentary exchanges for reinforcing diplomatic engagement.

The meeting closed with a mutual pledge to maintain regular inter-parliamentary interactions, enhance coordination and pursue collaborative initiatives across areas of mutual interest, ensuring that legislative cooperation translates into strengthened Pakistan Azerbaijan ties and lasting benefits for both countries.
