Pakistan Bahrain Parliamentary Group Holds First Briefing

Pakistan Bahrain ties strengthened as the Parliamentary Friendship Group holds its inaugural briefing to boost parliamentary cooperation, trade and investment.

The inaugural briefing of the Pakistan–Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group took place in Islamabad today under the convenership of Honorable Ms. Asia Naz Tanoli, MNA, focusing on ways to deepen Pakistan Bahrain ties through parliamentary engagement and economic collaboration.

The session was attended by prominent Members of the National Assembly, including Honorable Mr. Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Federal Minister, Mr. Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Haji Rasool Bux Chandio, Mr. Pullain Baloch, and Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, who participated virtually. Senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce were present, and His Excellency Mr. Saqib Rauf, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain, joined the briefing online.

Briefers from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Commerce provided a detailed assessment of the current state of Pakistan Bahrain ties, highlighting recent diplomatic engagements and initiatives aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation. Discussions addressed strategic priorities in foreign policy alongside opportunities and challenges in trade and investment between the two countries.

Members expressed strong appreciation for the active role of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in facilitating the recent parliamentary delegation’s visit to Bahrain and commended the mission’s proactive engagement in arranging high-level interactions. The delegation visit was cited as a key driver for expanding parliamentary exchanges and advancing mutual priorities.

Honorable Rana Mubashir Iqbal urged the Friendship Group to prioritise new investment opportunities, particularly in the agricultural sector and broader business initiatives that can benefit Pakistan’s economy. The Convener requested that the overseas mission arrange a virtual meeting with Bahraini parliamentary counterparts to accelerate cooperation on shared legislative and development goals.

The group resolved to extend comprehensive support to Pakistan’s diplomatic missions, establish formal communication channels with the Bahraini Parliament, and promote enhanced government-to-government and people-to-people interactions alongside sustained parliamentary collaboration. These commitments aim to translate stronger Pakistan Bahrain ties into concrete economic and diplomatic outcomes.
