Standing Committee praises Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal flood relief and approves increased funding; MD to submit a plan to support vulnerable communities nationwide.

The Standing Committee of the National Assembly commended Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal for its extensive relief work in flood-affected regions after a presentation by Director General Dr. Zeeshan Danish, who outlined the organisation’s response despite a limited mandate and constrained resources.

The committee, chaired by Meer Ghulam Ali Talpur, praised the efforts led by Managing Director Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt and his team for their tireless and unconditional service to communities impacted by flooding.

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal detailed the delivery of roughly 80,000 meal packs and the deployment of 15 large vehicles for relief operations, in addition to rescue work for both people and animals. The organisation has been distributing ration bags, medicine boxes and clothing, and has announced plans to provide 200,000 kg of dates alongside animal feed to further support affected households.

Committee members also acknowledged PBM’s ongoing support in healthcare and education, noting targeted assistance for cancer patients and financial help for university students as critical components of the organisation’s broader humanitarian programme.

Impressed by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal’s commitment, the Standing Committee approved a request to increase funding and asked the Managing Director to submit a detailed summary outlining how additional resources will be used to support vulnerable communities across the country.

Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt thanked the committee for its support and reaffirmed a commitment to a fair and transparent system that ensures maximum aid reaches the needy and poor. The committee’s endorsement underscores Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal’s dedication and the potential for greater impact with increased backing.
