Pakistan and Bangladesh are seeking to strengthen their partnership in the energy and mineral sectors following a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Pakistan, Md. Iqbal Hussain. The two countries discussed a range of initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth, energy security, and regional cooperation.
During their meeting, both officials expressed a strong interest in developing joint ventures, particularly in the exploration and trade of limestone, coal, and petroleum products. Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to expanding relations with Bangladesh, noting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is supportive of greater collaboration with the country. Malik reaffirmed that Pakistan views its bilateral ties with Bangladesh as highly valuable and is optimistic about exploring new opportunities that benefit both nations.
The talks covered possible ways to deepen partnership in the exploration sector as well as in the trade of essential minerals and energy products. Both sides highlighted the need for knowledge-sharing and increased investment to maximize the benefits of cooperation in these sectors.
High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain welcomed Pakistan’s readiness to enhance economic and energy cooperation. He stated that a stronger partnership would not only bring economic advantages but would also help promote stability and prosperity across the region. The High Commissioner also reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to expanding trade and investment ties with Pakistan.
This renewed engagement signals a shared determination by both countries to pursue closer collaboration and unlock new avenues for mutual growth in the energy and mineral sectors.
