A high-level Bangladeshi delegation, led by Presidential Advisor for Religious Affairs AFM Khalid Hussain, met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf in Islamabad to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, religious collaboration, and mutual support between the two nations.
During the meeting, the Bangladeshi delegation conveyed their condolences for the loss of lives and property caused by recent floods in Pakistan. Sardar Muhammad Yousaf emphasized the strong sense of brotherhood and solidarity that exists between the peoples of Pakistan and Bangladesh, noting that their relationship is built upon centuries-old shared traditions, Islamic heritage, social values, and literary connections. He highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation between the two countries, stating that improved relations would have a positive impact on the wider region.
Advisor Khalid Hussain expressed his appreciation for the warm reception extended by the Pakistani government and people. Both sides agreed to take concrete measures to boost cooperation between their respective ministries of religious affairs.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf proposed the exchange of scholars and religious students between the two countries to foster deeper understanding and collaboration. In a significant development, Pakistan and Bangladesh agreed to establish a joint working group dedicated to promoting interfaith harmony.
The Bangladeshi delegation is also scheduled to participate in a two-day international Seerat conference taking place in Pakistan, further underscoring the cooperative spirit between the two nations.
