Pakistan Secures Major Win Over India in Asian Boxing Leadership Elections
Pakistan has achieved a significant diplomatic victory in sports by defeating India in the election for a key position on the Asian Boxing Board of Directors. Khalid Mehmood, Secretary General of the Pakistan Olympic Association, was elected as a board member, defeating India’s Ajay Singh by a vote margin of 18 to 9 during the Asian Boxing Congress held in Thailand.
This success marks an important milestone for Pakistan, as it strengthens the country’s leadership role in regional sports organizations. Experts see Khalid Mehmood’s election as a reflection of increasing trust in Pakistan’s sports administration at the Asian level. The inclusion of Pakistan in the governing board is also expected to encourage greater cooperation among countries in the region.
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Nasir Tung, President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation, congratulated Khalid Mehmood on this achievement, describing the victory over India as a matter of national pride.
