Ambassador Khalil Hashmi recently held a productive meeting with Dr. Akram Sheikh, a distinguished former Federal Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, at Pakistan House. The discussion highlighted Dr. Sheikh’s long-standing ties with China, underlining his significant contributions to fostering cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Sheikh, recognized as a reliable and respected friend of China, has built strong relationships with Chinese leaders and the broader Chinese community throughout his career. His association with China dates back 57 years, when he first collaborated with Chinese engineers in Taxila. Over time, Dr. Sheikh developed enduring friendships with numerous Chinese figures, including the late former President Jiang Zemin.
The meeting underscored the importance of such personal connections in strengthening bilateral relations. Ambassador Hashmi and Dr. Sheikh exchanged views on furthering partnerships between Pakistan and China, with both leaders enthusiastic about advancing mutual interests and deepening the historic friendship between the nations.
