The Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, chaired a review meeting of the Sub-Committee for Pakistan Civil Awards nominations in Islamabad, emphasizing transparency, merit-based selection, and inclusivity in recognition of outstanding national service.
The meeting, held at the Cabinet Division in Islamabad, focused on evaluating nominations received from various nominating agencies for the Pakistan Civil Awards 2025. Senior officials present included the Secretary Ministry of Human Rights, Mr. Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, alongside representatives of the Cabinet Secretariat and various concerned departments. Participants from all provinces and regions were also in attendance, ensuring the inclusivity and diversity of the selection process.
Committee members underscored the importance of adhering strictly to established nomination criteria and terms of reference, stressing that nominations must highlight exceptional contributions to public services, philanthropy, or social welfare with tangible national-level impact. It was clarified that routine career progression alone would not be considered sufficient for a recommendation. Additionally, for individuals already holding a Civil Award, further recognition would only be justified if their subsequent achievements were particularly distinguished and significant.
The committee further reinforced the principles of equity, actively directing all nominating authorities to ensure balanced gender representation, adequate provincial participation, and clear inclusion of minorities and persons with disabilities. This approach was designed to foster national unity, equity, and transparency, thereby accurately reflecting the diverse fabric of society in the awards process.
