Pakistan Digital ID Progress Drives Innovation and Security

Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, visited NADRA Headquarters to review advancements in Pakistan’s Digital ID system under the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), underscoring the Digital ID’s critical role in achieving the Digital Pakistan vision and the goals of the Uraan Pakistan roadmap.

During her visit, Minister Khawaja received a comprehensive briefing regarding recent developments and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s Digital Identity ecosystem. She highlighted that an effective and secure Digital ID system is essential to driving progress towards a citizen-centered, innovative, and prosperous Digital Pakistan.

Minister Khawaja further linked the advancement of Digital ID technology to the objectives of the Uraan Pakistan roadmap, which advocates creating a resilient digital economy. She reiterated the government’s commitment to deploying technologies that enhance citizen convenience, security, and innovation across all sectors.

Chairman NADRA assured Minister Khawaja of the Authority’s dedication to promoting and sustaining Pakistan’s Digital ID framework. He outlined NADRA’s efforts to incorporate international best practices into its systems, aligning the national Digital ID strategy with key global standards and Pakistan’s unique socio-economic priorities.

Both the Minister and Chairman NADRA agreed that collaboration and consistent progress in the sphere of digital identification are pivotal for sustainable economic growth, strengthened governance, and enhanced public services nationwide.
