**FPCCI President and Egyptian Ambassador Discuss Steps to Boost Bilateral Trade**
FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh met with Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ehab Mohamed Abdel Hamed, to discuss strategies for strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. The meeting focused on exploring ways to improve trade relations and addressed several topics of mutual interest.
During the discussion, President Sheikh emphasized the importance of reducing high tariffs on Pakistani products in the Egyptian market, calling for greater market access and enhanced trade facilitation. He also highlighted the need for a Free Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Egypt, stressing that such an arrangement would benefit both nations and reinvigorate commercial exchanges.
Expressing concern over the declining bilateral trade volume in recent years, the FPCCI president recommended immediate measures to reverse the trend. Sheikh asserted that there is significant potential to expand trade between Pakistan and Egypt, and called for greater collaboration from both sides to unlock new opportunities.
He further suggested that frequent exchanges of business delegations could pave the way for discovering untapped areas of cooperation and deepen commercial ties. According to Sheikh, such initiatives would play a crucial role in identifying and realizing new avenues for economic partnership.
For his part, Ambassador Abdel Hamed highlighted available business opportunities for Pakistani investors in Egypt, reiterating his country’s keenness to attract foreign investment and promote bilateral business ventures. The ambassador affirmed Egypt’s strong commitment to its relationship with Pakistan and expressed determination to further strengthen commercial ties across various sectors.
