Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) successfully concluded its two-day Health Expo and Summit, drawing significant participation from government officials, foreign diplomats, and industry professionals. The event, held at the Pak-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad, showcased the dynamic potential of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical and medical sectors and highlighted ongoing efforts to promote health and wellness.
On the final day of the expo, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, toured the exhibits, praising the quality and innovation of pharmaceutical and medical products on display. He commended RCCI for its vital role in advancing trade activities, especially in the health and pharmaceutical sectors. Speaking to the media, the Minister congratulated the RCCI on organizing a successful exhibition and remarked that Pakistani companies are gaining international recognition for their progress, driven by hard work and innovation. He added that the government is taking all possible measures to develop the pharmaceutical industry to global standards, expressing confidence that Pakistan’s industry will play a leading role internationally in the coming years, benefiting the public through various government initiatives.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Trade, Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan, also attended the expo, visiting various stalls and acknowledging RCCI’s efforts to promote sector-specific exhibitions. He lauded RCCI’s contribution to fostering dialogue between public and private stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of collaborative initiatives for industry growth.
Renowned tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq was among the notable visitors, adding further prestige to the event. The expo attracted a large turnout from government officials, members of the diplomatic community, and industry professionals, underscoring the growing interest in Pakistan’s healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.
RCCI President Usman Shaukat highlighted Pakistan’s significant potential for increasing pharmaceutical exports, citing the country’s capacity for producing modern medicines, skilled workforce, and the growing global demand for affordable drugs. He noted that Pakistan is recognized for producing high-quality generic medicines at competitive prices, making the country’s products attractive to international markets. President Shaukat also stressed the need for enhancing regulatory systems to ensure the safety, quality, and efficacy of medicines and urged action against the surge in counterfeit and substandard drugs.
The expo also offered a variety of free health services and screenings, including diabetes checks, dental and eye examinations, fitness sessions such as yoga, mental health awareness programs, and informational sessions on healthy weight loss. These initiatives reflected RCCI’s ongoing commitment to improving community health and fostering innovation within Pakistan’s vibrant medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
