Pakistan and Iran form a joint border trade committee to resolve logistics barriers and boost regional connectivity via Chabahar and Gwadar ports.

Abdul Aleem Khan met with Farzaneh Sadegh in Islamabad and both ministers agreed to form a joint committee aimed at resolving issues hampering border trade and logistics between Pakistan and Iran. The meeting reaffirmed a mutual commitment to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen regional connectivity.

Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that Pakistan is committed to facilitating regional trade and connectivity and welcomed the joint committee as a practical mechanism to address operational hurdles affecting cross‑border commerce. The focus on border trade reflects a shared interest in improving trade flows and logistical coordination.

Farzaneh Sadegh expressed Iran’s desire to expand cooperation in Maritime Affairs, highlighting the roles of Chabahar and Gwadar ports in enhancing linkages. Both sides signalled that the joint committee will work to promote smoother logistics and closer cooperation on port-related connectivity to benefit trade between the neighbouring countries.
